Baltimore Orioles' Affiliate, Frederick Keys Top High-A In Attendance For Fifth Straight Year

The Baltimore Orioles' High-A affiliate, the Frederick Keys, once again led all High-A ball clubs in attendance in 2016. It marks the fifth consecutive year the Keys had the highest attendance in all of High-A.

We are not just talking about the Carolina League here, we are talking all of High-A, which includes the California League and the Florida State League, in addition to the Carolina League. That's something the Keys and their fans should be proud of to do just once, nonetheless five straight years.

Per Minor League Baseball, over 41.3 million fans attended minor league games this season.

The Keys drew 314,443 fans this season, making it five-straight years they have drawn over 300,000 in attendance. How did their attendance compare this year to other teams? Well, the Keys were the only team to eclipse the 300,000 mark at the High-A level, so not only did they draw more fans than any other High-A squad, they did so by a large amount.

"We can't thank our fantastic fans enough for another great season. Keys fans are so passionate about their team and we look forward to raising the bar in 2017 with more great promotions, giveaways and celebrity appearances," Broadcasting and Public Relations Manager Geoff Arnold told Baby Birdland.

Nymeo Field hosted some good baseball this year, including a monster year from first baseman Aderlin Rodriguez, who is a serious contender for the 2016 Brooks Robinson Minor League Player of the Year Award.

It's no secret though that part of drawing good crowds, especially at minor league games, are the promotions. And the Keys had plenty of those this year.

My son was very disappointed (we had other family plans) by missing out on one of their biggest, a picnic and meet-and-greet with the Paw Patrol. That promotion was so successful that I believe I recall the Keys adding two more days of that promotion to try and accommodate all of the fans interested.

If you have never been to a Keys game, I greatly encourage you to do so. The atmosphere is great at Nymeo Field, their kids area is top notch, their staff is extremely friendly and the baseball is pretty good too, haha.

Congratulations to the Keys on making it five-straight Top Attendance honors at the High-A level!
