2017 Baltimore Orioles' Minor League Coaching Staffs Announced

Friday afternoon, the Baltimore Orioles finally released their 2017 minor league coaching staffs and there are some new and familiar faces among the seven affiliates.

The O's made the announcement via press release.

One thing that I love is the fact that the manager at all five "major" affiliates are returning in Ron Johnson (AAA Norfolk), Gary Kendall (AA Bowie), Keith Bodie (High-A Frederick), Ryan Minor (Low-A Delmarva), and Kevin Bradshaw (Short-season A Aberdeen).

Joining the manager ranks will be Carlos Tosca (Gulf Coast League Orioles) and Elvis Morel (Dominican Summer League). Tosca joins the organization after serving as a bench coach the last 12 seasons in three different organizations (Arizona, Miami, Atlanta).

A couple of familiar names have also joined the minor league coaching ranks in Buck Britton and Mark Hendrickson.

Britton, the brother of O's closer Zach Britton, was a prospect in the organization before some injuries and such, and will serve as the hitting coach for the Shorebirds this year. It's great to see a former prospect stay in the org as a coach.

Hendrickson, former pitcher for the Orioles, will serve as pitching coach for the Ironbirds. His MLB experience should be instrumental for the young players that normally play for the Ironbirds.

Brian Graham is entering his 10th season in the organization and his fifth as Director of Player Development. As previously reported earlier this off eason, John Wasdin enters his first season as the Minor League Pitching Coordinator.

Don't forget, our very own Chuck Boemmel Jr interviewed Mr. Graham this offseason and talked about all sorts of topics including prospects, the hiring of Britton, and much, much, more. If you would like to check out that interview, part one, part two.
