3B Drew Dosch Quietly Having Big Offensive Start to 2017 Season With AA Bowie Baysox

By Contributing Writer: Chuck Boemmel Jr.

Bowie Baysox (Class-AA) third baseman Drew Dosch is quietly producing solid numbers this season. The current Baysox roster includes eight of the Baltimore Orioles top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline. Dosch is making the case so far to be added to that list.

In nine games this season Dosch is slashing .424/ .513/ .576 with three doubles, one triple, nine RBI and one stolen base. He has had a hit in eight of the nine games he has appeared in and has reached base safely in all nine games.

Defensively, Dosch has committed just two errors in 27 chances and his current fielding percentage of .926 is in line with his career percentage (.940).

Currently Dosch leads the Baysox in walks with five and in OBP. He ranks second in batting average and is third on the team in hits, RBI, total bases and OPS.

I realize it is still early in the season but Dosch is making the case for his name to be included in the buzz surrounding the Baysox team. On a team with a few of the Orioles top prospects, Dosch is showing he can play with and keep up with the big boys. The hot corner at Prince George’s Stadium is a spot to watch in 2017.

In fact, in an article I penned earlier I called Dosch “a player to watch in 2017”. You can read it here.

Don’t be the fan who says, “where did he come from?”.
