Hays, 21, has been performing extremely well all season, and for the first time in his career, he has been named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of May 15-21.

Over seven games during the week, opposing pitchers hated to see Hays come to the plate as he hit .438 (14-32) with two home runs, six doubles, six RBI and a .813 slugging percentage.

Five of the seven games saw Hays record multiple hits.

It's just the continuation of an outstanding season thus far for the 2016 third round pick of the Orioles.

Through 39 games this year with the Keys, Hays is hitting .318 with five home runs, eight doubles, three triples, 20 RBI and has scored 23 runs.

In addition, he has also posted a .357 OBP and a .860 OPS.

Some wondered if Hays would struggle a bit to begin the season due to the fact that the Orioles elected to move him straight to High-A without ever playing an inning in Low-A.

Obviously, Hays has been up to the challenge, and if he continues to produce in this manor, don't be surprised to see Hays manning the outfield at AA Bowie sometime this summer.

Congratulations to Austin!
