Baby Birdland's Weekly Arizona Fall League Roundup: Week 5, Luis Gonzalez Still Pitching Well

The Arizona Fall League is in its 26th season and seven Baltimore Orioles' prospects are playing this year. Each week during the AFL season, we here at Baby Birdland will provide you with a weekly roundup on how the O's prospects are doing.

First, the team aspect, the O's prospects are part of the Salt River Rafters this year, which has prospects from the Orioles, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Marlins, and Brewers.

The Rafters had a better week going 3-1-1 (12-12-2 overall). They are 2.5 games back of Mesa in their division (East) and sit in second place place in the three-team division.

Now let's see how each of the O's seven prospects are performing:

Offensive Players

Ryan Mountcastle - Over five weeks thus far, Mountcastle is hitting .243 (18-74) with three home runs, four doubles, 13 RBI and has scored 10 runs over 19 games played. His 13 RBI leads the team.

Anthony Santander - He has appeared in 17 games thus far and is hitting .194 (13-67) with three doubles, one home run, 12 RBI and has scored six runs. His 12 RBI are second-most on the team.

Stephen Wilkerson - Leading the way among O's prospects, Wilkerson is hitting .299 (20-67) with three doubles, four triples, one home run, eight RBI and has scored 11 runs over 19 games played. He leads the team in total bases and triples.

Pitchers

Keegan Akin - He has appeared in eight games thus far and is 1-1 with a 1.76 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 12 strikeouts over 15.1 innings pitched.

Luis Gonzalez - He has appeared in eight games and has yet to give up an earned run over 8.2 innings pitched. He has struck out six and walked one. He is 2-0 with a 0.69 WHIP.

Jesus Liranzo - He struggled a bit over four appearances, he allowed six earned runs over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been replaced on the roster by RHP Ryan Meisinger.

Tanner Scott - The hard-throwing lefty has appeared in five games with a 12.54 ERA and a 2.36 WHIP over 9.1 innings pitched. His best appearance came in the Fall Stars Game where he was one of the standout performers tossing two shutout innings while striking out four and allowing just one hit.

Ryan Meisinger - He replaced Liranzo on the Rafters' roster and has appeared in two games thus far and has yet to surrender and earned run over three innings pitched.

The Arizona Fall League regular season continues on and will conclude on Thursday, November 16.
